It’s not the first employee who defines a position, but rather a habit: everyone who comes after them follows their example. I look at three things more than experience—can they get work done on their own, can they admit when they don’t know something, and do they hesitate to talk to customers? If these three are present, any technical shortcomings will be resolved within six months.
